Jim Owens, Executive Director

Indiana Limestone Director Jim OwensJim grew up in Bedford, Indiana, the heart of Indiana Limestone country. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and has been ILI's Executive Director for the past 17 1/2 years.

As Executive Director, Jim is responsible for the management of this trade association that represents quarriers and fabricators of Indiana Limestone (as well as associate members such as engineering firms, equipment suppliers, etc.) and serves as the technical publisher for the industry. Among his other duties, he speaks by phone with architects on a daily basis, assisting them with questions they may have about the use of Indiana Limestone. ILI also offers a review and comment service, wherein they will review drawings and/or details and offer advice for the best use of Indiana Limestone.

Jim has written various articles for stone trade publications, including Stone World, Stone Industry News, Slippery Rock Gazette and the Masonry Institute of Michigan's Story Pole. He was a trustee and president of StonExpo, a national stone trade show, prior to its sale to Hanley-Wood. He frequently lectures to AIA groups and architectural students at various universities, including the University of Illinois and Notre Dame. Past presentations have included many AIA state conventions as well as masonry industry events across North America. He also does in-office presentations for architects from time to time, and ILI's presentations are certified by the AIA for continuing education units.
